Best bet for disc is to post a message in the "parts wanted" section.

As Dennis says. Disc,s from 74-77 maverick or 75-77 comet are a extremely easy conversion. Parts for the disc system are still readily available.

    :Welcome:

Nice car! I'd imagine you probably have one of the only, if not the only Maverick/Comet in Ireland. Do you know of any more there?

If you want brand new (repopped) Maverick discs, then go to the link Craig posted. They are pricey, but brand new.

If you want to spend a little less, you can find Maverick discs used in MANY places.
They are often called Granada discs as well. They are same-same.
The reason they are so popular all over the Ford hobby is that they fit a great many classic Fords as a nearly direct bolt on.
So the Sale Forums on just about any Ford related site will have them, as well as Craigslist, eBay, and probably RacingJunk as well.

    Good luck
    Dave

Welcome to the board, Steve. You must be a fanatical fan of the Comet to import one all the way to Ireland. You are probably not married. LOL. Thats a nice looking car you have, thanks for posting the picture.

You need to make a list of all of the parts you need. You could save some money by getting some used parts. The granada spindles, with caliper brackets, splash shields, proportioning valve, and hardware can be found cheap enough here or on Ebay. Just click here and look at these goodies!:
    "Granada + Disc" search

Calipers,Brake pads, Brake hoses, Master cylinder, Rotors and bearings are all easier to find as they are over the counter parts store items still available. Just gotta find someone willing to ship to Ireland.

After looking at the link in Craigs post, and seeing this $545.00 kit, I would rather spend the extra couple of hundred for the peace of mind of knowing you have a complete kit, and everything is new/refurbished. Drive with front drums while you save the extra money. Its not a daily driver anyway, I am sure.

    Good luck.

That is really a good deal from a convenience point of view. You'd probably have pretty close to that in the parts if you bought them individually anyways. I had about 3/4 of that in my disc swap, and I already had the spindles, backing plates and calipers from a parts car. That kit comes with everything brand new.

I currently have almost that much in just my spindles for my '73 (fatman 2 inch drop). :outtahere:

:Welcome: to the board. I did the disc swap from a 74 Comet, to my 73 Comet. It's best thing I ever did. Good luck, on your search.....

Thanks for the reply. and yes I would say this is the only one in Ireland it gets great looks as it is so different to all the Japanese cars which look the same.
