I've been meaning to post these for a while. These are pictures of a car I looked at a few months back. The owner had done a bumper tuck. What do you guys think? Vote in the poll.
Yeah, I am not a fan of big bumpers (I may change my mind after a minor collision, though), but tucking them really makes it look nicer. Reminds me of the big bumper Chevelles, etc that look decent with big bumpers.
at least GM made it look like it belonged on mavericks its just some huge object tacked on to the front and read of the car
The ss models were nicer... I think tucking them in makes them look like they belong a little better. Wonder if we can fit a chevelle bumper on our mavs...
i dont see the diffence between the SS bumper and the other? a nova bumper mght be a little better fit
I agree on the nova bumper. The chevelle has a front end shaped more like a Comet with the bulge in the center. I pulled up the SS pic because it didn't show as pronounced a bulge.
Keep in mind the Chevelles shown above were pre-safety bumpers. Their safety bumpers, 1973 and up, were ugly too.
The big bumpers stuck out because of federal regulations. Besides, it's not fair to compare the big bumper Mavericks with old GMs (because they weren't bound by regs either). Here's a 75 Monte Carlo for comparison. The bumper sticks out on it too.
the GM's never seemed so apparently ugly tho. i think their bumpers tended to flow a litle better with the over all designs on the mavericks it looked like they just slapped something on to meet regulations and be done with it
Exactly what I always thought. Probably exactly what they did. Kinda like that yellow box behind the radio on the 74 models..."Quick, the feds just passed a law, let's be the first to follow it...wait, they changed their minds. That is OK, our little box didn't work right anyway..."
