this may be construed as lame, but here it is.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cruise-O-Matic

i had a 69 gt that had a cruise-o-matic in it. it was an fmx.
not sayin its gospel or anything, have just been associating that trans with that term for years in the fmx.

Anyone know what this thing is that the coil is zip tied to? It isn't hooked up to anything, but appears like it was at some point. The two posts on top are marked Distributor and Battery. It looks like some sort of funky old aftermarket coil, but there isn't anywhere to hook a spark plug wire or anything. I've never seen anything like it.

Geeze, check out what the house this car was registered to sold for: http://lalife.com/address/1028_S_Highland_Ave_Los_Angeles_CA_90019

That's more than just a good deal my friend - that's amazing. The 70-71 Torino is my second most favorite Ford, 2nd only to the Maverick of course. :D

No idea what that thing is with the coil. Numbers on the fender apron look like a past compression check.

There is 2 in the knoxville pull-a-part, a 2 door like yours and a 2 door half truck style.

Never even thought about that. You're probably right. The same numbers are wrote on both sides of the car.

Hmm... that sounds like the best guess I've heard so far. There isn't any tach in the car, didn't have one from the factory either but that doesn't mean someone didn't have one in there at some point.

Yea, I saw that. I haven't been up there since November, was going to try and go back real soon.

was there 2 sat. ago I got the armrests out of the 70, and the seatbelts. both were in better shape than what I have, it still had the seats, hood, doors and engine.
the gran torino truck had chrome armrests , I took them off but left them in the seat.
chrome was bad on the top, guess you could swap sides to get it on top but I had 2 sets already. If you ever head this way hollar. Could do breakfast or lunch some where...but you will have to twist my arm to go junkyardin.:rofl2:

Well, we just sold the Torino. A guy and his son came and looked at it and pulled out of the driveway about 30 minutes ago. Was fun to cruise around in, but my dad decided he really wants a motorcycle with the way gas prices are going. It was hard to watch that thing drive off...

Ironically, this guy was buying it for his son, to replace the '73 Maverick his son wrecked recently. Man it's funny how things work out like that..

They still have the Maverick in their garage, I'm going to go take a look at it either this weekend or next and see if there is anything worth salvaging. It sounds like it's pretty bad off, they said it got side swiped by a semi truck. I've got a real stinking suspicion this may be the same '73 that Eli (302grabber) had for sale a couple of years ago that Terry, Earl and myself went and looked at. They described that car almost exactly, and said it only had 58,000 on it when it got wrecked...

That looks neat, he got himself an exceptional car for a great price. Hope he enjoys it!

That was a nice car in your link there.
A 73 with 'new' door panels and 'old' package tray. I always assumed that early door panels = package tray, late panels = glove box.
Never paid too much attention to it though.

You mind telling what you got for the Torino?

    I am just curious...

Also, I didn't notice it listed for sale here! ;)
That's a darn nice car... I would like to have seen it for sale here, even if I probably couldn't have afforded it.

My dad was asking $4,500, guy offered him $3,500, they agreed on $3,900, deal was done. I did mention in our FFW thread a couple of weeks ago that it was for sale. He put it on craigslist Sunday and it was sold in less then 24 hours.

I've never seen a '73 with the old style arm rests. My '73 4 door had a package tray, and the later style arm rests.
