can someone tell me the best way to blackout the chrome trim around the windows, would i have to remove it?
There is black "trim tape" made for this. It's similar to what is used on the B pillars of 90's cars such as the Thunderbird, Tempo, etc. I've seen it at the parts store.
But would electrical tape shrink with heat from the sun? I would think that adhesive would turn into goo too.
The right way would be to remove it. Use a gray scotchbrite pad to scuff the surface lightly and paint it with black trim coat. A nice touch would be to clearcoat it for extra durability but doing so would make it appear glossy instead of flat. I did my trim this way (without clearcoat) and it looks great almost 10 years later.
chrome trim I masked off the windows and used a green scotchbrite pad and regular black paint worked good , and so far has lasted about 5 yrs.
