Leaky trunk

    I can't quite figure out where or how water is getting in my trunk. It's not a gigantic amount, but it's enough to be annoying. The seal appears to be flawless. There's no cracks in the weatherstripping or anything. Even in heavy rains it's not flooded in there by any means. Just a small annoying puddle that keeps showing up. Tell me what pictures would be helpful for you guys to see and i'll try and take them tomorrow before the storm.

    Coming in past backlight(rear window) seal/Tail lights/Side trim or boomerangs mount bolt on quarter.

    I've been embarrassed to ask....:hide: what is a boomerang? (when I hear boomerang I think those tv antennas on hippie vans.) I'm starting to think it's somewhere by the chrome trim piece at the bottom of the window. Are there any tricks to help me track it down?

    The boomerang is the trim that fits around the rear "pop out" window.
    Look at it, it sort of resembles a boomerang.

    No water lays back there, though. It pools about 5 inches from the back of the rear seat in that kind of dip in the middle of the trunk floor. It gets into the "tunnels" around the wheel wells, too though. It seems to be focused on the drivers side. There's a lot of quarter panel damage there I've been fixing. It seems like this issue has been unfixed for long before I've owned this car.

    It has to be the rear window seal. That flat piece between the top of the seat and the rear window is horribly water damaged. So I need a new rear window gasket?

    the seal and package tray are available fromAutoKrafters/R.P.S.and I think Steel rubber products makes the backlight seal,among others.

    I figured it out while I was reading and thinking. I was planning on replacing all those gaskets when i have my headliner put in anyway. Is there anything I can do in the meantime to help the situation?

    Dont park it in the rain?I have the AK kit also,not installed yet but I have it,seems like pretty good stuff.Well see when I put it all on.

    Throw a good plastic tarp over it,park it on top of one too if you gotta keep it out side.Keeps the majority of the moisture at bay.
