I know I should look through more posts but I figured I'd ask... has anyone tried to swap a mustang or some other 8.8" OEM 4-link into a mav? while retaining the 4-link feature? I'm getting tired of the leaf setup and would like to get a 4-link in there with coil/coilover springs for better suspension control. An idea I had was to use either the upper or lower pair of links to hook into the front leaf spring mount than fab up another pair of brackets for the other pair of links. Seems posible but I don't have the time to goto junk yards and take measurements and inspections to see how it could be done... I still haven't been able to get myself a 5-speed which I've been trying to get for the last 4+ years but thats another matter. anyway any info about the 4-link would be appreciated. as usual the least amount of modification the better and the least amount of variable measurements as well (as in the 4-link weld-in kits you can get from jegs which you have 4 mounts to weld in and you have to be exact on all of theme). thanks again.

If your talking about the 4-link w/ leafs... thats not what I'm really talking about. This will be on a street car and I would like to goto coil springs... Sents I installed a new set of leafs afew years ago the axle sits about a inch or so to one side, which bugs me to no end (tire/fender has to close of a relationship for my taste to). So with the 4-link I should be able to recenter the axle with the chassis.

I was toying with the same idea last year except the car was a 68 Mustang coupe that needed floorpans.

My wife's car is a 2007 Mustang and these now have a three link rear suspension. I feel that it is a big improvement over 4 links or leafs. There is no twitchiness in rough corners under power. It just flat handles.

The problem with the 05-08 rear axle is that it is very wide. If you want to run shallow offset wheels like the new Stangs, that would work.

Another possibility is to look at Factory Five Cobra's website. Their basic Cobra kit uses the Ford four link, but they have an upgrade to a three link and you might be able to adapt parts from it.
