next summer i may or may not spray my bumpers with some chrome paint. i was going to that at first but i didnt want to run the risk of it pealing and chipping of and plus most of the paint i tested with looked nothing like chrome. can i get some help on this subject?
yeah chrome paint is well not so chrome... if you want chrome , sent the bumpers off to get redone or just paint them the car color...
well in that case when my dad repaints it for me next summer i'll do the bumpers the same color as the rest of the car
that chrome paint is just to touch up small trim pieces and less noticable bits. my rear bumper got shot with chrome paint. looks noting like a chrome finish. its just silver spraypaint that cost a little more
http://mmb.maverick.to/attachment.php?attachmentid=22974&d=1190329963 I stripped the chrome off my son's and painted them argent silvger base/clear urethane. I put the bumpers in a Wheel-A-Brator cabinet which turned them as they are blasted with metal shot. Fred
You are correct, the chrome paint, does not in anyway look chrome., but I will tell you what I did to a "64" Galaxie I finished last season. Bumper (front) was bad, so I sanded down the bumper, took off the parts where the chrome was peeling. Then I primered the entire bumper with grey primer, wet sanded it, then shot it with the (spray can) chrome paint. After that I shot it with the (spray can) clear coat. You wouldn't believe the comments I got on that bumper....looked great, chrome type, glossy grey finish. Many thought it was a fiberglass bumper...but for a cheap way to go, until you get the new or rechromed one, its' not a bad idea. Good Luck.
