Vic beleny,..he was part of the Canadian ford drag team back in the late 60's,early 70's.I'm sure later on he also ran a 1969 comet convertible with the 428cj motor??. thanks for the info. Chris
Yes that's the man!! He's a good friend of mine he is running a 1967 390 Fairlane in STOCK now.Wow you been around not alot of people remember that 69 Comet rag he had. COOL!
I spoke to the current owner of the Barry Poole Comet just this evening. I am hoping to write a story on it's racing history, how the current owner came to own the car, and about the restoration process it went through, complete with new pics. I'll keep you guys posted on how that goes. later...John B
I can remember if it was that car or a Pinto that Don Henderson had something to do with, a few years ago now. Don used to be in Paris, he had lots of real good ford stuff stashed away, a friend on mine got his Boss 429 from him.
Don Henderson passed away some time ago, but I'm sure Don Henderson Jr. has/had the Barrie Poole '67 comet station wagon "The Collector II",[original 390 car that ran a 427]..and the boss 9,..well there were 3 of them from Don's stash. A maroon 1969 ,and two 1970's,one grabber orange and one grabber blue. I got the grabber blue car.
Sure do,...I sold Barry a 69 mustang convertible, and Peter and I have repro some parts for each others cars. Peter is a great fabricator,..made me a boss 9 heat shield that would pass as an original hands down! super nice guy!
We used to all be in the "Forest City Ford Club" together, I've known them for years. Peter always has something amazing to show me when I go over to fix his furnace (even though he could fix it himself) and Barry taught me alot at a young age, it was him that found me my first Grabber. It's a small world , even if we both live in Ontario
Guys,..I just viewed some old racing dvd's yesterday that one of the guys at work had. It is all drag racing from '60-'78 in and around southern Ontario,Canada. Lots of cool stuff including the Sandy Elliot's comet in action along with a host of other comets! A total of 4 dvd's, Lots of Great Canadian content + our friends south of the great white north. The guy selling them is in the Hamilton area, email is: ross.martin@sympatic.ca. You can google" quarter mile nostalgia " to get updated. chris
Cool i will check that out. Thanks Chris. BTW do you know some guys around the Hamilton/Burlington area with a few 427 Comets and Fairlanes? There is one fellow with a Absolutely beautiful 66 or 67 green Comet Capri i talked to him a few times he used to be from Welland.
Bryon and Mat,....Mat still has his '67 427 comet[originally from Gallenger ford,Milton],..but Bryon has sold his two '67 427 fairlanes[the black XL and the blue sedan] to a guy in Alaska. He said the market was rigth at the time and the offer was just too good to pass on.
