Well the trans is in, and my driveshaft fits, but with only about 1/4" of travel. I called American Driveshaft Service in Marietta and they want $35 to shorten it and another $35 to balance it. Is that expensive? I know someone on here mentioned being about to use another car's driveshaft.

I would go look at Pull-a-part but last time I was there they used a forklift to move the cars and every one I glanced at seemed to have a buckled driveshaft. I didn't need one at the time so I didn't look that closely, I guess they might have a pile of driveshafts somewhere...

Thats a good price. Last time I had one done it was around $50 but my Company gets a discount.

You will have more than $15 tied up in a junkyard driveshaft counting environmental fee, sales tax and the $1 to get in the gate and then it might still need to be balanced and new U-joints. 70 bucks ain't bad if you think about it. I think Atlanta Drivetrain gets $55 to balance one

Thats a good point. I called Atlanta Driveline in Norcross and they want $65 and said they could do it in 2-4 hours based on their workload. They're closer so I'll probably drop it off tomorrow.

Know Anybody with some stock 5.0 Mustang stuff laying around? A 79-93 302 Mustang shaft will fit right in just take that goofy 4 bolt flange off the rear of the shaft.

I'm feeling better about the price, especially since the place I am taking it to only wants $65. I was referred to them too, not just a name out of the phonebook. Don't have the time (or the energy) to do anything more than shorten what I have and reinstall it. Time's short for Fun Ford and I need to work out the kinks, don't want to be stranded on I-85 headed to Commerce:(
