Off to a slow start today, but got the spring boxes and crossmember done. Just took longer than anticipated. Also spent a couple hours removing the rear seat belt brackets so my "tin guy" can remove the inner tubs. those things have about 50 spot welds on 3 different brackets! Russ
Thanks, but your ride tops mine any day! Made some progress today, but frustration abounds. Just getting started cutting the floorboards was hard! Once cut (hey, I measured 3 x's) I found I had overcut and spent a couple hours patching that. Then I got one spring box in and it didn't set level. Had to shim that with a piece of 1/4" bar stock so it looks like h^ll right now. After making a couple of fugly welds, I had to quit... Russ
Short day today, had to go for eye exams and drivers license renewal. Only 4 hours to work... Got the DR side subframe connector in, just a piece of 2 x 2 x 1/8 wall square tube. I think I'll leave it open and run my fuel line(s) through it. One more full day (off) and it's back to work! Hopefully, the underside will be complete (at least roughed in). Russ
Dave, that's a pretty nice compliment coming from a senior member! Eric, I just hope it doesn't hang to low (it's about 2" below the front crossmember), but then again, this car ain't gonna be no low-rider! I got the PASS side springbox and subframe connector tacked in today. then ran out of wire. Which was a blessing in disguise, as the garage needed a thorough 3 hour cleanup. Now my sanity has been restored (I hate working in filth). I'll get a new spool before my next set of off-days and finish up the welding. I should be getting my "chunk" setup this weekend (3.50 gears and 31 spline detroit locker) then I'll be ordering axles next week. Should be back on the tires in a couple weeks! Russ
I don't think being a Senior (not that I am a senior, or thats theres anything wrong with them, well some of them) has anything to do with anything. It's the work your doing, some guys could only dream of having the skill or the equipment to do what you have done, the front end was a lot of work in itself, but to totally redo the back half of the car, WOW, and the time you've done it in, is another thing.
Ahhhh, the weather's been great here and I've been able to work 7 or 8 hours a day for a week straight. No more work until Tues though, back to my (real) job. Got my '69 Mustang tank ordered today so I can get it fitted while still on the rotissierrie. I'll be doing a tech article soon on altering the steering column from "auto on column" to floor shift, and adding the RCM rack parts... Russ
Streetrod, Have you got any pix of the rear seat area? Also trunk view of those tubs? I was looking yesterday and see that the plastic 1/4 panels are up against the factory inner wheel tubs. When I get the tubs moved in, there's no way the quarters will fit w/o major surgery. The seat too, for that matter. Cutting down the seat shouldn't be a problem, but I hate to hack up the plastic 1/4's. Got to have a back seat! Russ

Alot of the classes I want to run wont let you plus it's super hard to make fit with stock frame and floors!!
