The shift linkage which is *supposed* to be connected to a flange near the steering shaft Ujoint is no longer connected. It's all still intact but the bushing type object that kept the male peice in the female peice is missing. Where can I find this? Having to pop the hood to shift an automatic is tiresome :rofl2:

You can still get those bushings from Ford. Somewhere out in my garage I have the part number but Ford should be able to find it for you.

E0SZ-7341-B is the current part number, there Blue now.
If you can't find any, let me know I just stocked up with enough for 20 years.

Many thanks! So, this must be a fairly common part to fail?

Just to make sure this is the correct part here's a picture:

These are them, they press onto the shaft with a little work, then you have to press it into the hole on the flange. One of the old time mechanics at the dealer told me to put it in hot water first, then it'll soften it a bit and make it easier.

Can you still get these at your local ford parts dealer? Sorry to steal the thread.

Yeah.....I was going to add.....they are as hard as rocks.

Ford made a special tool to remove them. I would love to find one of them.

Still a current Ford part (for now) They use these bushings on a lot of cars still.

Boy are these a pain in the arse to install. I ended up cutting a sliver out of one side. Not sure if it would have fit otherwise.

The tool is listed as T67P-7341-A in my '77 manuals.

I've been searching for one, I think that OTC Tools also makes one, or they may make them for Ford.

I got a set of those insulators at my local ford dealership and i set them on my dash for a good hour, then using a pair of channel locks squeezed them into column, then squeezed the linkage in. I mean squeezed, they are a pain. The service manager @ ford uses a heat gun to heat them up.
