Thats a tough one.Someone would have had to take a good one apart to measure all the angles and sizes of the components that make it up.Even then, finding a perfectly straight one is next to impossible. When manufactured those things went through many processes.(My dad used to work on that line a the woodlawn stamping plant here)After each process the thing travels along a convair and gets dumped into a bin with hundreds of other ones. The things got bent up Alot along the way.At the end,as long as it fit in the checking fixture somewhat it went to the assembly plants for use.

I doubt anyone would pull a good one apart, thats usually whats kills the car, when the torque boxes are rotten. Have you talked to Joe? I thought he was already in the process of having them made.

I think the torque boxes would be best if you made the seperate pieces. It would make them easier to install.

I can't speak for the Maverick/Comet torque boxes, but the early mustang torque boxes were three pieces of 14 Ga metal. I'm pretty sure I read a while back that Joe has them in the works. I don't know if anybody has tried the mustang torque boxes, but I'm sure they would work with a little cutting.

There is no real precision in them anyway. The passenger's side box doesn't even fit for early mustangs and has to be take apart and welded in piece by piece. Hell, you could cut the whole thing out and weld in square tubing and it would work just as well.

I have seen on this site where someone used some rectangular tubing and it looked pretty nice.

Yeah, square tubing works just fine, in fact there's no way for water to get trapped against the floor pan and rot out.

Don't get me wrong, if you can have a correct looking torque box I'm all for it. But there's no real science to it, it's just something to tie the rocker panel to the frame rail.

The car I had cut up is gone to the scrap yard, however I do have the rocker panels with about 2 inches of the torque box left on it. I could give you a pic of that and you could go from there. I could give you the angles of the bends and cross measurements but not the lengths. I will not be home until this weekend because I am in Texas right now. If you can wait till then I can give you what I can.

I guess this brings up a question. Has anyone ever tried to get drawings, etc of parts out of the Henry Ford museum. In my dealings with the trusty Model T and being on some of their forums, I know folks who have gone and schedule time to go through the archives and get copies of drawings of parts, etc. Might be a new project for the Maverick and Comets. It's worth a shot. - Matt

So for all to know ,i called Restoration Parts Source to find out if there was any made yet or were they in the manufacturing stage ,(NO go) there on Joes list of things to do ,but aint going to be anytime soon ,6 months to a year as It appears that alot of the parts that were made already arnt selling ,none of the maverick community are buying ,Tony told me even the battery trays arnt selling ,he has 30 in stock and sold 3 or 4. So ,now i know that i am going to have to get them made just for myself at a very high cost for manufacturing ,oh well S H I T Happens, now ill really need a draft or drawing with measurements to get these made for myself ,if anybody can help me PLEASE DO, i dont enen know how many pieces are involved in this , two for sure and probably three for each side . thanks James
