what did you use and how did it work? i was just going to grab some rattle can stuff from the parts store but if it all flakes off in 10 miles id rather not waste my time. its a little easier to get them painted out of the car anyway. a "steel" color would be my top choice, black would be 2nd

any suggestions that are somewhat inexpensive?

    prep...prep...prep...:yup:

i "glassbeaded" mine...then washed them with soap and water...took a tourch and heated them from the inside (down all the tubes and up the collector). let them cool down so i could touch them and then coated with (rattle can)..."High Temp W/C" paint.. :yup:

    ...:Handshake...

I also prepped mine well and sprayed them with header paint in a can. I've got about 1500 miles on them and they're still black. (y)

I used hi-temp ceramic aluminum coating-rattle spray on. It burned off quickly. The Eastwood coating, or similar, or ceramic coating process or powdercoat or Jet-Hot will likely be better.

Not sure about headers ... but Eastwood coating worked great on my exhaust manifolds ...

Wrap em... but it's not inexpensive nor quick. I just like how it isn't as hot by my plug wires and under hood in general.

Doesn't wrapping them promote rust, since the headers condensate inside the wrap? Don't know if it's true, but I've heard that a lot.

It was already rusty lol. It hides any imperfections ;). I would think it's too hot...

if you dont drive it , i would think they could , but if you drive it on a somewhat regular basis, the mositure will just evaporate

VHT high temp header coatings work well(if you follow the instructions) and if you scrape em up you can touch them up easily. The eastwood stuff workes well too.Header wrap workes if you like the mummy look.Just dont wrap em all the way down.moisture collects at the low points on the headers.

some of the header paints ive seen say that you need to heat the car up within a few hours of paiting the headers. i'd rather not have a short time limit like that

Tony, I painted mine with rattle can hi temp paint that said to heat them up after being painted....it was two months later before I ever fired the motor! I ran it long enough to get them smoking just a bit, then let them cool to the touch, and ran it again. They still look just like they did after I painted them, but I haven't got any road miles on the car yet, just running in the yard...
