Just a thought ,but i would think that if they were made of aluminum they would be lighter than fiber glass. Also if they were made of aluminum they could be packaged in a smaller box for shipping ,thus cheaper shipping cost. When recieved, then just be riveted together by the purchaser ,with a simple instruction sheet ,just my 2 cents James

There are 4 retainers that hold it to the glass. Nothing touches the moldings. The two top (hinge) retainers simply slide between the rubber and the glass with an edge that hooks onto the edge of the glass. Once it's in place the rubber holds it down and I believe you would have to break something to get it out unless you remove the molding and lift the rubber up high enough to unlock against the edge of the glass. The side pieces mount the same way but they have some type of fastener with a special key so that you can unlock it at the sides and raise the louver for cleaning. For anyone wanting good close up pics, instead of me emailing pics out every day I'll post them online and just give a link. I'll try to do that in the next day or so.

I have thought the same thing. Maybe so the rear passangers can see forward since that's the direction their facing . I would rather they be facing the back... I would have considered them then, the shipping is the killer tho.

    side louvers

I think we are looking at the inside of the louver..........hate to see what the other side looks like. on a glass piece you usually get a good side and the other side is rough. kinda like the bottom of the carbon fiber hoods. maybe one of us could bite the bullet and send them to maverickman to make some molds off them. Then he could make some carbon fiber ones!

Well, you could always save the $40 shipping and just go to Brazil and pick them up.
