Very similar Hi Hanks, welcome. That is quite correct. The top, used at the GM Caravan, was very similar but we can not say it was the same, but I can say it was very very very similar. In the other side, Maverick used exclusively side and back windows and the back (trunk) door was made using fiberglass, so, as we can understand, windows and back door was different off used at GM Caravan, so the top too, to match correctly. I believe that we will never know everything about it.
-No it wasn't,it was it's own metallic top stamped specifically for this model by a company called Brasinca and that was the single item that elevated the price so much, however, seems like back in the day it was a possible operation in Brazil.......... -Nowadays this kind of thing is completely impossible in terms of cost,i wonder what went wrong along the way down there, cause here in America this kind of stuff is pretty much the same as 30 ys. ago....
Sorry, but Brasinca was never working on this project. The companies were: SR Veículos (Souza Ramos - FORD dealer) and Sulamericana (body and structure for special cars). The second point, you are correct: very high price in terms of production.
All i know is if i had the time and the money i would get one shipped up here to the frozen north, changed to a 2 door, lowered, maybe airbags, 18" rims some sorta mini wing on the rear roofline and have that nice rake stance.Paint it a nice Ford blue with black interior and air.OH yeah baby, Grabber hood ,then maybe a sweet 289 or a 351 stuffed in the bay and out we go cruzin'. Sure we can keep the same Brazilian motor if that will make you happy. But please the 302 -V8. and a row of 4 barrel carbs. I smell burning rubber. NMCC
Definitely not a Pinto rear end. Having owned a few Pinto wagons, the dimensions are quite different from what is there in the pictures. Chris
