If the forward clutches are not engaging. you won't have any forward gears no matter how much oil you put in it. You might ba able to save some money if you can pull it out and install it. If you don't have the tools and knowledge to do the R&R then you are better off leaving it to thr pro. See if he will install the TransGo 40-2 reprogramming kit for you. It will add a little to the cost of the rebuild but you will like the results. Added: If it revs in gear and doesn't go anywhere.....
Tow truck just took her away... Bad sign: the rear wheels wouldn't roll, even in neutral, so she just got dragged up onto the truck. Ugh.
You know...that's a real good possibility. I'd be making a phone call real quick to make sure they check that...BEFORE...you get a bill for tranny work.
Exactly.... Tell them to figure out why the rear wheels wont roll FIRST. You'd have to have some pretty locked up brakes and/or bearings but I've seen it happen. I thought the 4x4 chunk in my GMC was going out once because it would lockup and pop. Somtimes you could drive it around the farm I lived on for about 20 minutes before it started, other times it was as soon as you try to move it. Turns out it was a wheel bearing (which in that case required a hub as they aren't replaceable) So you may have bad bearings and/or locked up brakes. Either way your looking at less money than a tranny remova/install and rebuild
Notice he said "even in neutral" You seem to skip over things lately and just provide your opinion or a fact that everyone already knows...
I don't smoke, or even drink anymore... lol but I'll take Glad it was the brakes instead of the trans
