Well... Here I Am! I Have a 1969 Mercury Comet Coupe, the one that came with Three Speed Manual Trans, and the 250 (4.1L) In-Line Six Cyl. Engine. That car is Already a Part of our Family, my Dad Purchased it New, back in 1969, so there are too much History and Stories Behind. It has Swapped the Front Disc Brakes from a Mustang, with Vacuum Booster, and Other many things are Upgraded, like the Radiator (New Double Row, High Capacity for Heavy Duty, "Made in Honduras") an Electronic Fuel Pump, New Chromed Carb, I`ve Sent the Valves Cover to the Chrome Factory, so it`s Chromed too... etc... etc... etc... I am a "Do-It-YourSelf" Person, and I have Worked in Automotives Mechanics; Also I am a Subaru Mechanic Guy (Specially Old School ones). I Recently Painted my Mercury, and is Good Lookin` sitting in its 15" White FoMoCo Heavy Rims. Thank you for let me Be Here! Just Few Questions: Why Just Mercurys from 1971... Mine is a Great 1969 one. There are Any Chance to Obtain some Parts? ... ... Where I Can Find Thechnical Data, Information, etc about my Car`s Engine? ... Please, be Patience with me, Because my Mother Language is Spanish, I Learned English only by Myself... Thank you, Best Regards & Blessings. JesZeK
Man! That's awesome English for self taught! We love pics (photographs) here... Post some up! Sounds like a nice car, but probably is like a family member to you. Welcome! Dave
Not to get off topic, but I never knew they did a Montego based Comet! Reminds me of the 70.5 Falcon that was just a re-badged Torino/Fairlane 'post'.
Thank you all for the Warm Welcome! Yes, it Looks very alike that, it is some sort of Montego Based Comet, that came with Main Mechanical Parts from Mustang. Do you Remember that I said I am a Subaru fan Too? ... Well, here is a Picture of my 1969 Mercury Comet, Beside my 1985 Subaru Loyale (I have two Subaru Loyales). (My Family own those cars since new, long time ago) I am Known as "Loyale 2.7 Turbo" at the Subaru Comunity, That`s Why the Pics Carry that Sign: I Hope You Like it!
Howdy and Although everyone is welcome here, the reason we state 71 to 77 Comets is because it is built on the Maverick platform.
Updating... Thank You! Yes, it is. It really feels like a Member of the Family, somehow... My very first ride in a car, was as newborn in may '75 on this Mercury Comet Coupe, we grew together; I named it "Herbie" when I was young child... it can be seen in tons of Photos of our family members with this Mercury, since 1969 up to date, starting in Black & White photos to the High Definition cameras of today... Beside that I now use my '85 Subaru "BumbleBeast" as Daily Driver, and my Wife uses her '00 Kia "KiaStein", (both with several Modifications done by me) we Love the Mercury, which has became some kind of "Garage Queen", that only goes outside to short / medium travels, and / or special events. Ok, let me update this thread...
