This is what I have been working on all weekend (and most other weekends!). I have been eliminating rust from the Mav and getting the undercarriage and trunk ready for rhino-lining. I hope to have this done this week.....we will see. I still have lots to go and I ran out of Rust-bullet. So far I really like this stuff. Anyway, what do you think. What you see took about 14 hours this weekend. Sand blasting and coating......I will be glad when this part is over! Didnt get a chance to work on the engine at all, I will try to do that this week. It is finally all coming together thanks to everyone on this board for keeping me excited about it. It really does help.
looking good j.p. what is this rust-bullet? is that some on the rear end?...frank...:bananaman :bananaman
Rust Bullet is supposed to be similar to POR 15...only better, they claim. Yep, that is some on the rearend. I am using it as a test piece. I am detailing another rearend that will go in the car and this one will be setting outside for a while. We will see how it holds up.
Looks great. Its a shame to have to cover it up with Rhino liner but that does sound like a good idea.
You are makin great progress. You will be glad you did all that work. Will payoff when you get it all slicked up. Dan
Thanks guys. One of Rust Bullets selling points is that it takes less metal prep than POR 15 yet is supposed to work better than POR 15. It only comes in silver and is supposed to be more impact resistant than POR 15. It also does not require a top coat. I am coating it with the rhino liner for extra protection. I am paranoid when it comes to rust. Sounds like good stuff.....I am taking a chance on it but so far I am impressed with it. Here is their link. http://www.itkillsrust.com/
I will sing the praises of Rhino Lining till I die. My fiance's 280z was saved because of the stuff. He had an engine bay fire, and thanks to the Rhino Lining in the bay his damage was minimal and all of the body is fine. Jeri
Looking Really Good! I would say that you have done a double nanna job at least on that thing!:bananaman :bananaman Keep up the good work, and keep the pics coming! Preston
Can Rust Bullet be applied overtop of previously existing paint and still retain its protective qualities?
Yes but it wont protect the metal from rust...it would be just like putting another coat of paint over the existing paint. Kinda expensive for that.
