3 of each did mine, but I had to paint my truck black first, so 2 cans of black, 3 cars of splatter, and 3 cans of clear for me.

But.......that is only if you go with the black trunk splatter paint. If you go with the grey splatter paint.....I would paint or primer the trunk GREY first.

Step 1 ... coated it all with Eastwood Rust Encapsulator and let dry ....

Step 2 ... Eastwood Spatter paint and clear .... 3 cans of each should be enough.

All the trunk splatter paints I have ever used were not water repellent. They all recommend spraying a clearcoat over the dried splatter paint to seal out water and moisture. The last time I sprayed a trunk floor with splatter paint it took forever for the stuff to dry. I ended up force drying it with very carefully with a heat gun. A blow dryer might work too, but it might take a little longer.

That and they don't seem to be very durable without a clear coat on them. I was very careful not to put anything in my trunk for the first two weeks, but I still ended up with spatter paint scraping off.

Several of the local shops are utilizing bed liner coating, in various colors, instead of splatter...guess it would depend on how original you wanted it to appear....friend of mine, who owns his own shop, is in the process of doing a 69 Charger front to rear with bed liner color matched closely to the original paint...includes all interior panels and under carriage...really nice finished product

Yes .. spatter paint is water soluble .... if you don't clear coat and ever get liquid in the trunk the paint will lift ....

I did mine awhile back, I didn't clear coat it. So far so good. I guess later down the road I"ll clear coat it to be safe.

I did mine 5 years ago and did not clear coat it. You have to remember, they were not clear coated to begin with. Mine looks fine, as does my 60 Pontiac done 8 years ago. The pontiac has seen all kinds of use, no problem.
