I was very pleased to see Doug's Drag N Fly at roundup this year. Also got to ride with him several times, that car sure does draw stares, thankyou Doug for the privelidge of being around one of these rare rides, and for your continued friendship. September 14 2008 I get to see Brent Mulvaneys Drag N Fly at the Uftring all Ford Show in East Peoria IL. While this is certainly a rare event, I can only think about the future of these cars with station wagon Mavericks from Brazil, and Shelby Mavericks from Mexico to find their way to our events. Continued support from all of us will enable future surprises in events down the road. I plead with all of you to save these cars, Ford and Mercury are not making anymore of them. Dan
I would certainly love to see the two of those cars together! I bet the car magazines (any of them) would love to do a feature on that!!! Could possibly be the only two in existence...WOW!!! I have seen the pics of them both. Two amazing cars. Hope to soon see them in person my own self.
Is that the green Dragon fly at the roundup? Has it been restored or is it original paint......the paint scheme looks aftermarket?????
Where can we see pics? I have seen the very old pics of a beat Drag n fly in the gallery, but that's it. Thanks
Pics of both have been in MCCI Shorthorns newsletters, and pics of Dougs have been posted on this site. Dan
Here's Dougs car: Brents is blue and white. I actually like the colors on Brents better but both cars are way cool!!!
That would be cool to see both Brent's and Doug's together. Would Doug actually bring the same car two years in a row?
I would bet money both will be at next years show. On an interesting side note, I was talking to a guy named Dwight at Classic Auto Air down in Texas last Thursday. We were discussing a few things about the ac system I bought. When I told him it was going in a Maverick, he told me that in 77 he bought a brand new Pinto. In the show room there was the Pinto on one side and a Special Maverick on the other. He said it had a name he couldn't remember. When I started rattling off the different models over the years, he said, "no, thats not it." Then I said Drag-N-Fly and Bingo!!!! This dealer had one sitting in their showroom back in 77.
