I ran across this schematic in a Tubular header catalog.
They put the info in the catalog because several of their headers require conversion to this mount in order to fit. This mount is more compact than stock, changes the height of the engine slightly, and fits a Maverick great. All perfect qualities for header fitment with big tubes or engine swap.

Just thought I post the part numbers for reference.
Another option: The later (65.5-70) SBF frame stands fit our cars, but must be used with the Maverick upper portion. But those parts are not addressed here...

That center piece looks sorta like a pickup or maybe even a fox body mount with the one center bolt....

im definatly having some trouble visualizing how that frame mount sits against the shock tower

does it also use their braand of motor mount too?

    This is Ford stuff.
These were used on all small blocks in unibody cars from the time the small block Ford was introduced, until mid-1965. Most commonly found in Falcons, Rancheros, Stangs, and some Fairlanes.

Those are listed in the AutoKrafters catalog as well. They are for use with the 351C headers.

    The driver's side is illustrated.
The part numbered 6030/6031 is the frame stand.
The 'horns' of the frame, where our frame stands mount with 2 long bolts, is very lightly drawn into the illustration... It kind of fades in from the side, ghostly like... The frame stand bolts to one side of the frame horns, unlike the steel ones that clamp it from both sides.

    Make sense?

I'll have to try and find an actual pic of these installed...

Three bolts go through the frame mount then through the shock tower. The intermediate mount sits between the rubber mount and frame mount.

    Good pic.
You can see there how much room they add too.
Not right at the block, but down lower.

That's my Falcon in the picture. We did try this type in a 72 Comet going through a 351 transplant and the holes in the mount do not align with the Comet's shock tower holes so we used homemade solid mounts instead. I will try and get a measurement tomorrow from my Falcon and you can measure a V8 Maverick then we will know.

I used them and was able to use both holes in the Maverick with 2 holes of the mount. I always just figured the 3rd hole didn't get used.

I don't recall, it has been a very long time, but one could drill the 3rd hole I suppose.
I wish I could remember exactly how the extra hole fell in relation to the frame horn...

theres an extra hole on the shock tower or on the frame mount?

on the shock tower theres 3 holes. the 3rd being for the I6 mounts but the v8 mount only uses 2 holes

I measured the distance between the top of the mount to the bottom of the (rubber) motor mount on my Falcon and came up with 3.75". This was the only place I could put my ruler and get a accurate reading. So adding the 3/16" thickness of the metal on the rubber mount the distance is 3.938 or 1/16" shy of 4" from the oil pan to the frame mount. The Falcon uses three bolts through the shock tower be it a 6 or V8 (same holes)

The aftermarket frame mount is cast aluminum and the stock mount is cast iron.
