It's a 74 Mav that somebody got a small rear bumper and rear valence for. I don't see how the valence attaches. I know the bumper filler piece isn't there but what else do I need? Anyone have photos of the pieces?

You gotta drill all your own holes and weld in (preferably) a set of bumper mounts/braces in the trunk.

My valence on the 71 just screws in where the holes are on top. And theres 2 fittings on the side. :)

Your also going to need small bumper quarter end caps, unless you want to cut yours up to shorten the bottoms.

You will have only two bolts holding the extension to the body.

i seem to remember my valence screwing into the same holes that the filler panel mounted to on my 76

and the 1/4 extensions used the same holes.

and for the rear bumper i just drilled the 2 holes on each side and put the bolts in with some washers behind them. i dont see any reason why the weld in brackets would be necessary. the bumper is really light and it isnt going to do much in a colision regaurdless anyway

You are correct in that these bumpers are pretty much worthless in a collision, but I would install the brackets. Although the bumper seems light, all that weight is hanging out in the air. As you drive, the bumper will move or vibrate up and down especially over rough roads. Eventually the rear panel sheet metal will fatigue and crack around the edge of the washer.

Now that I've looked at my car and all the photos you guys sent me I understand what I have to do. I've never really seen either set up myself and I got the car in pieces. The previous owner of my car put the bumper on where the the big bumper shocks bolted to. I was wondering why it looked too low for some reason. He had enough sense to grab the bumper, brackets, and the valence panel. He didn't get the 1/4 panel extensions though. He did some similar stuff on the front. He cut the tail end of the 5mph shocks and left those boat anchors bolted to the frame rails. Then he made aluminum brackets to bolt to those pieces and to the front bumper.
