We rented Toronto Motorsports Park on Friday so i got to make some passes on the Comet.First pass felt real good Left at 3500 rpm shifted at 5000 car ran 13.75 at 102 mph I was pretty pleased considering it's a stock 5.0 engine with a b303 cam and 650 holley. The second run i got gready and left at 5000 rpm the car yanked the wheels and started down the track with clutch smoke billowing out of the bellhousing...aborted that run.Third run i let the car cool off for about a hour and a half, set the timing at 37 deg, left the line at 3000 again shifted at 5500 13.07 @ 104 mph HOLY CRAP!!!,fourth run set timing at 35 deg left line at 3000 shifed at 5500 this time 12.99 at 104. Decided that was enough for the day,car wasn't broke just be happy with that and i am.....hummmmm wonder what 32 deg timing would do??
Good times and a lot of fun. Yep. Sometimes they like a little less timing. @ years ago I ran 11.85 at Bakersfield. I needed to slow it down to at least 11.90 so I took 4 degrees of timing out and added 40 pounds of weight and ran 11.81. I just left it there and added 100 pounds total weight.
It sure is, they have changed the name a number of times now.I belive there is a sign by the tree that says Cayuga Dragway.
Sounds like you had a great time! This is the kind of pics and stories I love to see ! Love that Car!
Thanks guys been wanting to get it down the track for a while now,I'll be stoked for weeks. New YOUTUBE Videos coming soon!!!
