In reality it is cool for a guy looking to cruise but for max HP it isn't a good design......Also they only fit the 99 and later heads......The issue is you have round holes that transition into rectangular ones and it just creates tons of turbulance.... They had a Dyno numbers vs the sullivan intake I am using and was like 50-75 hp in some cases.... its still a nice option for cruiser as I already stated!!!!
To be honest i could throw together a sohc mod motor for the same price or less as a comparable modded 302. you can get 300-350 hp easy.... They are just more efficient to start with. Ford engineered a great family of motors here with just a few small isues.....no different than with any motor.... The DOHC if you found a good low mileage cobra motor slapped a carb and intake would walk on most performance 302 build except the all out race stuff
Some other cool engines ... http://www.karkraft.com/exotic_engines.htm I wouldn't mind installing that Ford GT or Aussie BOss 290 in my 2006 Mustang ...
I had that place book marked already because of my 57 Wagon project. It has a 4.6 out of a 93 Lincoln. Sure would like to use one of their engines but it's out of my price range.
I would LOVE to see a Maverick with a complete `03 Cobra supercharged DOHC engine and 6 speed set up topped with a Maverick man Carbon fiber hood for blower clearance... Possibly the Cobra seats and Wheel and tire combo too! A guy who lives near me has the world record ET and Speed from an Eaton(factory) powered Cobra with no nitrous (his daily driver!) runs 10.40`s IF only I had the money...........
I saw one recently, a blue 76' mav with a 94' mustang 4.6 converted to carberator in it. It was at a local car show, I had to show the owner a picture of my maverick. When he left he did a nice little one wheel peel.
Did you see the one with the 6-71 GMC Blower on it? I'd love to have one of those for my 82 F100 pickup. The blower makes the wide valve covers look good......sorta like a Hemi Chrysler with a blower
