are you sure the water isn't coming through the cowl? Is the floor wet by the pedals?

If it is an AC car, and the cowl is leaking, it is more likely that the passenger side floor will be wet. (been there ... fixing that ...)

The area where the open slats are between the windshield and the hood is the cowl. There is a pan under it that drains behind the fenders. This is where the fresh air is supplied to both of the vents in a non-AC car.

Over time leaves and dirt pile up in there and tend to rust the pan out. Very common in these cars and Mustangs. Dealing with it now myself. Kind of a tough area to fix, too. I am pretty sure are tech articles on it.

The way to test if the cowl pan is leaking is for one person to be watching up under the dash while someone else pours water into those vents (perhaps a quart). If your cowl is good, the water will drain out behind the fenders. If it isn't, it will drain out on the carpet.

    Best of luck ... :thumbs2:

if the water pours into the car, time to peel the carpet back and check the floors
