Your choices are C4, AOD, T5, and Toploader 3 or 4 speed.

Strongest right 'off the shelf' is a Toploader 4 speed.
Easiest right 'off the shelf' is a C4.

With enough time, money, and work... any of these can be made bulletproof to a small block. The Toploader 4 is the only one bulletproof in stock form.

It all depends on what car you are putting a transmission into.
If it is a Maverick with a manual already installed (three pedals) then the Ford Toploader is the strongest and easiest. If it only has two pedals then the C4 is the easiest. Depending on the engine you are going to be putting the transmission behind one of these two will work. If you are going to use rear gears that are lower than 3.75 then an AOD might be better if you will be driving on the street too.
As you can see, I need more information to give you a complete answer.

I have an inline six 3 on the tree so i do have all three pedals
it is gonna be a 302, but i may end up with a 351 windsor
it is not gonna be really fast/powerful but fast enough to be fun to drive
i will not be taking it to the strip in any shape or fashion, am i also gonna need new gears in the beck with a bigger moter?

With a bigger engine you won't need any other gears. Your 8 inch rear end will be fine for a near stock 351W. Sounds like the four speed is the easiest transmission for you. Either of the toploading four speeds will work fine. If you have a 250 now you could even use the same bellhousing. You will need a 157 tooth flywheel for the engine you select and a good 10 or 10.5 inch clutch.
