Does anyone know if the rear bumpers of early model Mustangs (65-70) interchange with the Maverick? Trying to locate 70-72 rear bumper, brackets, and valence to do a small bumper change on a 74. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I didn't want to open a new thread that might be lost to those with the same question in the future... so I am asking here!

    I have two starters from a '66 289 Mustang 289 3 speed manual.
Will these starters work on a 351W with a 164 tooth flywheel and 4 speed?
I don't have any part numbers as the starters were rebuilds at one time.

    I found the information:
all ford V-8 260,289,302 and 351W from 63 to 73 use the same starters.
There are two, one for manual transmissions and another for automatic transmissions.
You can add this to your list of parts exchange

So what on the 69.5 is that different ? I know the front suspensions were a bit different, as far as I know not much else, unless the thin steel fenders are different too ? Just curious so if i go to get used parts I'm not wasting time. Thanks.

    Door Striker Posts

After fighting trying to remove a door striker post from a junkyard car ... ... I found out that they are available as repops ...

RPS has them for $14.95! Some Mustang sites sell them too ...

Same part that goes on 67-70 Mustangs, a bunch of Broncos, and other Ford cars too.

Hey there 302bob, To answer your question, the early model mustang bumpers ALMOST fit. They are a little too narrow and the contour is wrong.
If you are stuck for bumpers, and originality isn't your prime concern, you could buy a fiberglass bumper, and then coat it with this amazing new product from ALSACORP. It's a spray chrome and it actually looks like chrome. Check out their website. They have a nice detailed video of how it works. It's not cheap, but it does open the door to realistic looking fiberglass parts, which is nice if you are weight conscious.
    Hope that helps a little.

You are right in that the front ends are a little bit lighter duty, as they are based off of the ford falcon. The other main difference is the ignition key is in the dash.
Other than that I think they are the same as a 70-72.
