This is my 72 comet hood that i was going scrap but decided to take some time and fix. Some one had it packed full of bondo so i cut all that out and replaced with metal. take a look at the pics an let me know what you think. This is under constuction not complete.
Looks Teriffic... your hired, when can you pack up and move to buffalo. Great place to live if you like seasonal changes and lots of snow... not to mention plenty of cars to do rust repair on LOL...
Thanks for all the input ill post more pics when i get to work on it again. Hope every 1 has a Merry Christmas.
I dont think he would like our rust up here. Nothing like road salt to destroy a car. Friend of mine went down to S Carolina to work. Kept telling me how nice it was to work on cars without our rust issues. Brake fittings that actually come loose. That kind of stuff. He put his Jeep up in the air and the guys couldnt believe how rusty it was. Funny thing is his Jeep was pretty clean. He just laughed and told them that this was a good one. We work on 2006-2007 models with more rust underneath than my 72. Cant find good Mavs and Comets in this neck of the woods. Gotta be 15 years plus since I saw a MAv or Comet on the road up here. Everday driver I mean.
Isn't that the truth. I even have a hard time, daily driving in the summer. To many "nuts" on the road that don't care. Besides I usually have a hard time keeping the tires from losing rubber, which isn't good for the demerit points...
more pics of hood heres a few pics of the hood now under primer not much time to work on the comet ,but trying to make time hard to do running a collision repair shop have to work on every body elsles stuff. Really sucks seeing other peoples car get finish an mine still setting .thanks for all the input. Jamey
Speaking of rust I bought a truck from Milwalkee on ebay man that thing was rusted bad brought it home and sold it. Never will do that again.
Yeah...Anything near the great lakes or where they use salt on the roads in winter pretty much guarantees a rusty undercarriage...not to mention the rest of the vehicle.People see my mav and cant believe its not rotted away to dust.I have to work on these rotten rides everyday.Fasteners become !#$%*!# knuckle busters and then usually break off...great fun!!! I love my job.(I keep saying it hoping someday I will believe it...LOL)That hood is looking really good man
Sucks dont it. I looked at my Mav in our body shop for a year before I finally got it home. At times I thought it would never get done. Also have to put up with all the goobers I work with hassling me cause my car is being by passed. What to do when you have customers in rental cars. Gotta get them done fast. After some late nights and a lot of Saturdays it got done in the end and the price was right. Figure we saved about 4000 over a retail job. As much as the trade sucks sometimes it pays off now and then.
