so recently as of today i have changed my mind on what i want to paint my maverick. I was 100% set on painting it the original yellow, but after talking it over with some of my friends i was told that it wouldnt look really good. Now, i am 100% set on haveing two rally stripes down the center so right now i really cant decide on what color i want to paint it. Oh its getting painted in 2 weeks so ya, i need to find a color fast.

One friend said black would be the best, but i dont want black cause when it gets dirty you can see the dirt really well. So no black.

blue was next, but everyone or nearly everyone paints their mavs blue. So i really dont want blue but im not 100% set on not painting it blue.

Orange would be number one to me. But again, some of my friends said it would be stupid to paint it orange. Buuuut, its my favorite color and a nice dark orange would look sick in my opinion.

so in basically, ive looked all over the internet and on this sight. Does anyone have any suggestions? any pictures that would give me a good idea as to what my mav would look like? A nice dark yet beastly looking orange, blue or maybe even green would be sick.

if you just have two black stripes on the original yellow it isnt too bad, not to mention if you go with the stock semi gloss color it isnt as bad as gloss. i have gloss but just put good wax then use the show car broom in the mornings, because it is dusty in the desert >(. Your call though cause it is your baby,

its your car. not your friends. whats more important to you, do you like the color or do you want other people to like the color of your car?

I've gotten some grief in the past over using a Chevy color on my car, but I really don't care, because it's my car and I'll paint it to look like the space shuttle if I want to. I love the stripes, if I had it to do again though I would probably stop them at the edge of the hood up front. They go all the way down to the valence in the back, and it really makes the plain tail panel pop. I don't mind if you paint yours the same as mine, it's a nice color, and it's not like I invented black on orange.

As stated, don't let your friends decide for you. You'll regret it if you let them make your choice. Keep looking at different photos. There are hundreds and hundreds of Maverick photos on this board to look through. Keep looking and one's gonna hit you..."That's it"!!! Then stick with it. :)

Want a color combo that is unique? How about a nice emerald green with silver stripes! Add just the right amount of chrome trim and bumpers, and it is a head turner.

Here is a 'stang with that combo ......... :)

I really like the color that your car is in the signature. Looks good with the black vinyl roof. But after I read that your friends said it would not look good, now I hate it. In fact, now that I read how stupid it is to paint a car orange, I guess I will start saving for a different color that is less stupider.

But seriously, I like A lot of colors, and the stripes really give the car character. I am partial to the 71 grabber graphics with the single color block and two color side stripe. If I were going to do rally stripes, I would have the pinstripe around them and end them a few inches up the hood like the grabber stripes. maybe a contrasting color pinstipe?

I like this combo one of Rays cars from years past...

ya that green one is very nice to. Right now the hugger orange mav and that green one really pop out to me. And with the rally stripes i will be having a pin stripe around it. I no longer have the vinyl top to.

Thanks Brian...I still have the car. Hopefully will be doing a 100% resto on it soon. Working on getting a new shop up soon so I can take it apart.
