for those who has original black dash panels, i have a question for ya. i am thinking of converting my whole dash into color black rather than the light tan. what type of black color should i use to look like the original black on the metal part of the dash? does the original black color looks like primer black, plain black, or glossy black? a picture of a clean close up of how a original black looks would be great also for me to look at.
I used 'dark charcoal metallic' laquer-rattle can, on my doors during the resto. It is a little more glossy, but the color is very similar to my unpainted original dash. I'll try and find a close-up pic and post it. Seth
It is very close to a boat motor black. I forgot which brand... My uncle used it on his dash and it turned out perfect. I want to say Evinrude or Mercury black...??? It is a very metallic black.
Listen to Seth ... a satin Dark Charcoal Metallic is the correct color ... and like he said ... lacquer will dry with the correct sheen.
We used Duplicolor spray can for the black on my dash, worked perfect. (I can find the number if you want)
wow, i didnt know the dash frame are detachable off of a maverick! thanks for showing a pic, what duplicolor black did you use? i grabbed t100 universal black duplicolor from my local auto parts. is that black color code you used?
What about the plastic tray under the dash for an older Mav? Same color of blk? Be nice to touch up some work I had to do to fix the tray. Anyone know or use something special?
No close up, this is all that I have now. I'll try and take a pic showing the color and metallic later this evening. Seth
Seth, wow that looks so original. do you have the can part number of that duplicolor spray paint yet? id like to do mine this weekend.
