My 1973 Maverick Project Progress: Much overdue update on the Mav! the day i picked up this car for free (i'm in the drivers seat and my little brother on the left) Working On This Thread... LOTS MORE TO COME...
got it home and redid the brakes. Meanwhile i've been checking out the forum and realizing just how nice it would look without that big bumper... View attachment 32659
so i've got enough money saved up to hopefully convert the bumpers but then my parents come home and said the mav had flat tires so that money was GONE! bought these tires... View attachment 32660 back to work saving up money lol...
still saving up money but end up taking off the bumper just so im ready to put on a small one as soon as i get it! View attachment 32661 then i decided to paint some of the stuff like the Grabbers had...did it all myself with masking tape and spray paint View attachment 32662
so i saved up enough and headed to "MercuryCruizers" had a great time there at his place meeting him and checking out his mavs and comets got back, drilled the holes and bolted it up!
and at this point i was ready for a cruise/show!!! and by the way, this is my favorite picture of all time!!! then couple months after the cruise it was time to go get a Grabber hood from "Yellow75"!!!
well we visited "Yellow75" and left with a Grabber hood, trunklid, two fenders, some awesome Fresh Cherries and chrome peices for the dash "Yellow75" is an awesome Mavericker to deal parts with! the hood was braced in its own box we made with plywood and quick little story... we were camping down by were Yellow75 lives so when we headed back to the campground we unloaded it all. you should of seen the look on some peoples faces as they saw all of them maverick parts!
Oh man I have avoided being captured on film, I am 54 years young. Would have sent Matt home with more but they still had to load the trailer with camping gear and bikes. Matt has a great family and have enjoyed meeting them. If there was such a thing as a young Mavericker award I would nominate Matt for it he has an a great love of the car.
thanks! that was so much fun down there at your place! and the cheese factory is so cool i never look at Tillamook cheese the same way anymore
few months go by and i figured if i'm gonna have the Grabber hood i better have a Grabber spoiler! thanks to Columbus Comet i bought one and what a difference it made!
Then I realized just how small my wheels and tires were so the hunt began!!! i soon found a set of Cragar S/S For $45. I checked to make sure they fit and then headed for the tire store. As soon as they rolled out a set of BF Goodrich Radial TA's i started counting out every last dollar, quarter, dime, nickel and penny I had!
