My dad has a Maverick with the 289 engine, I have not seen any other with that engine. was that an especial edition or what?????
yes it is factory my dad bought it brand new and he has not done anything to it. it even has the numbers on the side
It is 12 here not many people are on just wait for a response with somebody that knows more maybe you should order a marti report on it.
Unless Ford Engine and Foundry continued the 289 outside of the US, it ended production on it in 1968 when it was replaced by the 302-a stroked version of the 289. The motors are practically identical...except for total displacement. The Maverick was not introduced until mid year '69(April 1969). The V8(302) did not show up until the '71 model year(starting Aug/Sept of '70). What year is your Dad's Maverick?
yea that could be one reason, but still everytime i go to mexico i never get to see another one with the same engine
yea im sure is not a 302, Ill ask my dad about the vin number, he lives in cali. and a soon as i get it ill give it to you. thanks
289's are common in mexican Mavericks. The earlier ones ('70-'72) had them, then there was some kind of transition in the middle years ('73-'74) and later they all came with 302's. I've seen small bumpered Mavericks with Falcon emblems too. Kinda like if the Maverick was a "body style" or "trim" of the Falcon. Falcons were still being sold in 1970 in Mexico. Then in 1971 the Maverick replaced it completely.
