So, GA allows up to 1970 model year vehicles to be registered with a real antique plate that matches the model year of the vehicle. So I've recently acquired two pretty nice original 1970 Georgia plates. The question is, which one should I put on my car? I can't decide, so I'm going to do a poll and see what every one else thinks. Which ever tag I use, I am going to send it off and have it repainted/restored.

    Plate 1:

69 means it was a Fannin County, GA plate. Fannin is part of my regular stomping grounds, so I'm kind of partial to this tag.

    Plate 2:

6 is Richmond County, which I think is out towards Augusta.

Which would you use? and if any of you other guys in GA with a '69.5 or '70 want which ever tag I don't use, let me know. You can legally run it on your car after fill out a forum and have it signed by your county tag agent. I have a copy of the forum as well. I'd let it go for like 15 bucks.

Id say 69, number/letter placement looks better IMO.

    69 - 1
    6D - 0

1969 wasn't a good year for me, but as for everything else 69 is good!

I have a Fannin County tag on my Falcon, so go with the 69 and we will start a movement or revolution. Did you know the "D" has something to do with the weight of the vehicle. All compact car had "D".

I say go with the 69 for 2 reasons...

1: It is relative to where you live/hang out.

2: It is a shorter number. Less is more on a plate.

If you can't find the exact county you live in, then one that is close is cool too.

I know the county I live in is terrible to find. It seems folks only kept south Florida tags. Like mentioned, the letters also matter. Here tags for trailers, motor homes, trucks, semis, mobile homes, etc... all have different letter codes, where as passenger cars had no letters. Of course you can find south FL mobile home tags in pristine condition all day long... and you can use them on a car as most folks wouldn't know the difference, but I'd know and it would never be good enough.

The silver trim on the 69 plate is in better shape. Not as rusty as the other one.

I can get the county I live in, but I just happened across these plates first. Plus a tag for the county I live in (Gwinnett) would start with 16. I like 69 better then 16. :D

Doesn't matter, either way I'm going to sand blast it and send it off and have it repainted. So it will look like new either way.

With the poll leaning so heavily toward the 69 plate, it looks like 69 it will be. If any of you other '70 GA guys (Earl, Nick, Kelly?) want the 6 D 15701 tag, just shoot me a PM. Otherwise I'm just going to set it up on top of my window in my room with my other old tags.

    Jamie,

Who are you sending it to? Can they do reflective plates?
