I was thinking about making my maverick right hand drive just to be different and give me a challenge. Which cars that interchange parts with the maverick were also exported too with right hand drive? I think all I need to figure everything else out on the conversion is to know what steering parts I need. whats the easiest way to convert it over to right hand drive? I live in Pennsylvania anybody know the laws and legal troubles on making a car right hand drive in PA? I plan on a custom dash inside and pedal assembly since I will also be converting it over to a 5 spd. thanks for your help in advance.:tiphat:

Why? Spend your time doing something useful, really.

    Yeah, that's the spirit! :thumbs2:

Also, why not just buy a new car and spend your time on something useful instead of painstakingly restoring a '73 Maverick of all things?

i hand it to him hes trying to be different and way different at that. No matter how unpractical it is it would be one of a kind. if i had the time and money i would try it.

    Done both those things...sorry.

Oh yeah, be a Maverick, that's so lame when people say that.

My whole point is, alot of people start these projects, whith no idea of whats involved, or how to begin, and never finish them, it would be time better spent doing something else to the car, since there is no direct swap, or parts to do this, it's one of those things that put a car in a garage for 10+ years, and then never gets done.
If you have the skill and talent to do this kinda work, thats awesome! But most people just don't. Plus if it's going to be some cobbled up hackjob, why bother.

It's true what you say. There is alot involved in what would seem to be a simple idea. Most people would never finish it if they started. I have no idea how hard it would be or what all is involved in doing it on a stock setup. I would recommend having a parts car sitting by for anyone that did try. I did this purely as an excerise in "what if". I didn't plan on using the stock dash in my car so I didnt mind cutting it up. I haven't done anything that can't be undone. Mine would be easier ( I use that word loosely) since I have a steering rack so we'll see. It will require some fab work so anyone thinking about it be prepared!!!

And I bet it took you no time at all to do it. :rofl2:

Just to give you a "primer" of what all would need to be done/manufactured:

    - Custom Headers
    - All brake lines would need to be replaced with custom bent brake lines
    - All custom made parking brake cables
    - All aftermarket and/or custom made heater/ac/defrost ductwork, etc.
    - Steering would be a nitemare in my opinion. I think one would have to go with a custom rack and pinion set-up.
    - Custom made/aftermarket throttle cable.
    - Custom made/aftermarket wiring harness

SOOOO many things would have to be changed....this is just a small list I quickly thought of.

Oh yeah.....PA is a car inspection state......so be prepared for that. That means you HAVE to have a working parking brake, etc.

You should write up an in depth, highly detailed, technical "sentence" on how you did your conversion.
