I know, that's why I said it. I along with probably everybody on the MMB who knows about it, am very impressed by the work you've done on your '73. I have no doubt it's outright mind blowing in person. Hell it's mind blowing even in pictures. I'm sure there are many people who wouldn't understand it though, and can't see the sense in putting that kind of effort into a project like that. I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me if someone even said that to you once or twice. If they did I'm glad you didn't listen.
After spending the day, tearing into an all original 1970 440 Challenger RT...I wonder why do it at all..
Ok thanks for your help guys. As for me doing something better with my time I laugh at that. I have a daily driver so the maverick can sit for as long as it needs to. First off it was wrecked (before I got it) so I need to replace / repair drivers rocker panel, quarter panel, pass side front fender, fiberglass cowl hood (its seperating), and the front lower valence. All of the suspension needs rebuilt except for the tie rods so its unsafe to drive on the street. The wiring harness is shot so I will be rewiring the whole car. Im already custom installing a pedal assembly out of a fox body mustang so making it right hand drive shouldnt be a problem with the skills my friends and I have. I am removing the front shock towers and installing a nascar style front suspension. I plan on junkyard shopping to see what all pieces I can use to customize the car. For example RHD heater system, seats maybe, door handles, rear spoiler, etc. I would like to do the suspension kinda like if nascar, when they used actual cars, did a maverick in 1972. I want it kinda like a nascar maverick for the street. I want it to have heat although the controls are hidden to give it more of a race car feel and a radio maybe also hidden for the race car effect. I know that some people wont understand it but thats what makes it my car and not theres. Im moving out to the other end of PA and cant take my maverick right now. I'm leaving it in good hands though my step dad is keeping it for me. I think this time apart from my mav will inspire me to work on it that much more when I do bring it out to where I'm moving to. I'll be collecting parts in the mean time so I'll be ready to transform my mav into a asphault ripping, gear jammin, tire burnin machine!
Im moving to Avella, Pa as soon as I get my jeep back together. I'm waiting on UPS to deliver my rear leaf spring shackles.
I don't think I would want to be the passenger facing all the oncoming traffic. Are you planning on moving to England where the right hand driver is in the right spot.(like the left hand driver is here)
i admire the desire to do something differnt. for people to just shoot people down because they want to take on a hard or different challange is mean and just wrong. my thought would be to do a mustang 2 suspension and have flaming river make a right hand rack and pinion for it. if you do this, pics of the process would be very popular on here.
I plan on living in Avella, Pa thank you very much mike tucker. I have driven all my life in a left hand drive car. I like trying new things so it just comes natural to try to build and drive a right hand drive maverick. There is no one right spot for the steering wheel. If the import crowd can import Silvia's and skylines that are right hand drive how embarrassing would it be to them to have there ass handed to them by a right hand drive wheel standing maverick. Oh and thanks Bryant for sticking up for me and for the info. I was thinking on emailing them to see if they would make me a right hand drive rack. I will post pics of the build as soon as I start on it. Right now I am doing all the research I can build the car the way I want to.
thats the way to do it, rack & pinion. the other way is to weld some bicycle chainring, and use a chain from one side to the other, similar to those driving schools cars.
