Sure - rears can be narrowed. Do you have those skills? If you have to pay someone - you have to ask yourself is it worth it and do you have enough motor that you need a 9"?

you can use the disk brakes and third member from that diff. you can get a new housing and axles from currie or several other companys and you would be set up with a decent 9'

When I first saw the picture, I thought E series van. Did they even put 9" in Merc Marquis? Also, if it is from a big parade float car, gear ratio could be along the lines of a 2.80 or so. If from a van there would be a better chance of a street worthy ratio.

If you can find a tag somewhere on the center third member bolts - post a picture of it so we can decode it and find out what it is ......... (y)

they used them in the late 70's and very early 80's.... the gear ratio's suck (like u mentioned) and to the best of my knowledge, have a chevy truck pattern (which makes them a bastard)

Is that not a coil spring rear end? I don't think a truck or van ever had coils or rear disc brakes.
Are you sure it is a 9" and not an 8"?
Is that for the Lincoln Versailles maybe?
That is the Daytona style pinion brace/shield isn't it? Is that what it is called?
Maybe from a Torino that somebody added the rear discs to?
Get the numbers off the tag if it is still there and somebody on here can tell you exactly what it came from
