i'm interested in going and picking some up, but first a few questions.. If i don't get the gt40(p) heads, is it even worth just getting the gt40 heads? i don't want to deal with the straight spark plug issue. what exactly are the advantages of using these heads? also what year cars did they come on? and are they set up for a roller motor, can i change them to work with my hydraulic? thanks!
the "p" heads are the ones with the issues, not the regular gt40's.... they came on lightning trucks 5.8, '93-'95 cobra's, and '96-up Ford explorer 5.0 engine. only '96 and early '97 have the regular gt40's, late '97-2000 all have the "p" heads
thank you. one problem arises my local wrecking yards take out their motors and part them out, so i will have to look through a million different heads.
the gt-40s have three lines on the ends the gt-40p have four lines i pulled a pair off a 97 last fall for $37 and change from lkq brad
I think i may just got with some good 351w heads. my 73' 302 headers will bolt up to 351 heads right?
i paid 250 for a complete 96 explorer engine with gt 40's and then sold the intake manifold to a guy with a foxbody mustang for 200.if you can get them cheap mustang guys buy them pretty quick.
Try this web site. http://www.car-part.com/ I found all kinds of heads near to me just for fun... think i'll tell my son. he is looking for some to rebuild.
I got the "p" heads on my 71'. The 'p' stands for pain in the A$$. I made it work but I won't do it twice. The plug clearance can be overcom wit tri-y's but then it hits the pitman arm. :-(
