I'm getting ready to drill holes in the trunk lid to mount a '69 Mach 1 spoiler. I haven't had a spoiler before and haven't paid attention to how they are positioned. I think it looks good with the back edge of the spoiler even with the back edge of the trunk lid. What do you think?

Yes, if you put it on there, keep it even.

Thanks, guys. I almost asked "Where should I mount it?" but I knew someone would say "On a '69 Mach 1". I know, not for everyone, but I like it. Think I'll leave it black for starters and see how I like that. Can always take it off and paint it white to blend in.

Nope. It looks AWESOME. It is a standard for musclecars in my book. Gotta have a spoiler and I love the wing.

Looks great!! Thats exactly how I placed mine on my 76 that I had a long time ago. If I remember correctly, the pedestal holes will line up in the triangular cutout inside the trunk lid which makes it real easy to bolt it down.

Are you going to paint your grill black??? If so, leaving the spoiler black would lend some balance to the cars look.
You could just paint the pedestals body color(white) leave the spoiler black.(it will look like its just floating above the rear deck)I love optical illusions like that.

Yes, grill will be black. I'm also thinking about a '69 Mach 1 scoop, but don't think a black scoop on the Sprint hood would look right. Maybe a black chin spoiler? If I find some cheap Cragars I could do them in black. Oh well, there's time to think about all that. Next up, the hood. Either need to repair the rust in my original hood or fill in the F O R D holes in a rust-free hood I picked up. The white pedestals/black wing is interesting. Hadn't thought about that.

    Looks good to me.
Has anybody ever looked at the 07 Mustang rear spoilers?
My wife has a V6 model and the 07 and I guess the 06's sit right down on the deck lid. I think it would look good on a Maverick if the width is right. Guess I need to get the tape measure out and check it. The 08's sit up an inch or two and might look good also

    You asked...;)

The Grabber ducktail spoiler looks MUCH better on a Sprint.
The wing looks too out of place on a Sprint.
If it was a regular Maverick/Comet/Grabber, with a blacked out tail panel, the spoiler would look at home. You had the right idea when you said that a black scoop wouldn't look right on a Sprint. This falls into the same area.

Get a Grabber hood and redo the Grabber stripes in red/blue, then put a Grabber ducktail on there in white with the stock red pinstripes. The only black you need on a Sprint is the grille and chin spoiler. Anywhere else on the car and it clashes with the red/white/blue scheme.

IMO Ford should never have even put the black steering column/wheel in the car. They were being cheap when blue would have looked 1000% better.

Well, um ... I was really looking for opinions on the position. I knew some of you guys wouldn't like it. Glad to see many did. But, I like it and that's what matters most.

I was looking for something a little different than the Grabber spoiler. I might agree with you on the black. Will see how it looks when the car is painted. Easy enough to paint it white later.
