I had real good results with Restore on a couple of engines in the late 80's. Ask me about it next time you're down here.

I just pulled a 350 out of a 1990 Chevy van... I NEVER WANT TO WORK ON ANYTHING NEWER THAN A 70'S CAR AGAIN!!! every single wire in the damn thing was connected to the motor and did not want to come out! took all day for me and my dad to move the van into the driveway and get it jacked up and the motor/trans out. the motor had to come through the passenger door. in short, i guess i don't know near enough about chevy trucks, but what i do know is an 85 is about the newest i'll work on...

You would really hate working on my '88 Accord Hatchback or '92 Nissan Sentra, then. :biglaugh: New or old dosen't really matter to me. I like working on them all.

I like working on cars when there's more motor than wire. these new motors are all electronics and stuff. it's so much simpler with the old ones. i guess if i understood what the wires were and knew how to work on it it'd be a different story, but until i get some kinda masters degree in electricity, i'll stick to the maverick and older motors. I'm actually wondering if it'd be possible to run it without most of the wiring... then it'd be nice.

that's whats gonna happen then. i DO NOT like the wiring. Dad's wantin to put it in his silverado. I think it'd be better in the Impala. :) I'd have to buy that off him if he did that.

Just saw where Advance Adapters sells a kit to bolt a SBF engine to the 700R4 in this truck. Also did some poking around in the Pull-A-Part yesterday and did some measuring. A rear sump oil pan, frame mounts from one of these trucks with a 4.3 V6, Maverick motor mounts and about 30 minutes of fabrication could have a 351W bolted into this thing with the Advance Adapters kit.

I'm getting evil ideas. :evilsmile I'm not going to touch it as long as it runs good. But if something happens to that damn 350, well... I might just have to piss off some Chevy guys. :D

Jamie is now the official owner of the 89 Chevy Truck. Paper work completed and signed today and money paid. He'll get that truck right.

Well, I guess it's unfortunate that I work for a Toyota dealership. They make me drive a 2010 Tundra back and forth to work every day. But...in my driveway is an 05 F-150 DoubleCab set and ready to go if and when needed. :burnout:
