Working on a lil project need opinions

Im working on building a "small" bumper for my car and took and done a rough sketch in paint would just like to get some opinions.

The way i planned to do it was plasma the top off ( area shown in pic 2) leaving 3/4-1" of the bottom flat area of the bumper then heat it with a torch and roll the access under to form the lower roll area.

 

What id like to end up with is larger then the 70-72 but smaller then the 73 bumpers

 

i can see the bumper you are describing but the ...
mounts and valance, i can't see...

go for it with an old bumper and if it turns out the way you want, chrome/paint it..

......

 

The valance will be a modded 73 unit ,brackets I will build from scratch.
hopefully it goes as I plan

 

Very intresting. I have a 73 bumper that isn't in too bad shape. But it has the rubber things. I'm gonna have to look it over and see if I can see any possibilites. One thing I know, it has a big metal backing. Don't you have one?

 

It unbolts from the shell i will not be using the backing

 

That'll drop some weight.

 

Funny you should post this. I was looking at my second set of 74 bumpers wondering how I could cut and shape them to make them smaller. I have a good set of rechromed ones so have the second set to play with. I didn't see anything that stuck out as feasable when you counted the time involved compared to just getting small bumpers and rechroming.

 

if you decide to not cut the big bumper put on some small ones!

 

I like it so far but how you going to hook it on? home made brackets?

 

that looks good! if only it didnt wrap around the sides so far back. but other than that i really like it!!!
