What parts from the 302 will fit on a 351w long block? I know the valve covers, timing cover and water pump will and the oil pan won't.

What about the flexplate and harmonic balance?

Should fit. All 351w are 28 oz. imbalance. So if it's from an early 302, it's ok.:)

The reason I'm asking is the shop where I'm getting my long block said the flexplate and harmonic balance would not go.

Yay! I thought so until the shop guy said no, but he deals with a lot of different engines and was talking off the top of his head.

    Thanks!

You will have to use the bellhousing from your 302 with that flexplate.
The 302 probably used a large bell and a 164 tooth flexplate.

I figured to go with the same bell housing and all since frim the tranny back will remain the same.

    BTW, the 351 is going in a 76 F100.

That'll free up the 302 for my Mav! (after a rebuild)

    Woo, hoo!
