so i'm getting ready to put bucket seats in my 76 mav and since i'm so damn tall, i'm going to need a little extra leg room. that means i will have little to no room for people to sit in the back seat. so i'm going to turn that backseat into a subwoofer heaven. 2 12" Duals, 2 6"x9"s and a 1500 watt amp for the subs. i'm hoping it looks good. i'm laying out the plans today. let me know what you think.
Nice idea,im workin on something similar as we type. 4 12" XTant X124 subs,4 pioneer 6x9's,4 pioneer 6 1/2's,1500 watt rms xtant 2 channel monoblock,4 channel xtant "highs & mids" amp. custom box made, still fitting it in,possible 2 alternator setup(not sure).Good Luck gabe
damn that's alot of speakers. wow. i'm excited. it'll sound good and look good. i've decided to just use particle board, and use some aftermarket rolls of carpet. it's going to pound. i'll post pictures when i get it started.
I already have the back seat removed, wooden bottom and back, and carpeted. Got speakers and system in mind, but for now, it is the dog's place to sit (so she doesn't destroy the stock back seat fabric and cushion. If you need a template of the two pieces, I could trace it onto paper and send it your way.
Do you mean the actual SONG "And Justice For All..." or the entire album? I actually just put a hidden system under the back seat of my Dodge Ram 1500 and being my first sub-woofed system (had several amps, no subs) I am re-learning to like lots of my old stuff. Not a huge amp nor sub, but about all I could fit in the space I have. Pretty Hate Machine was a blast last week when I dropped it in...
hell yeah. wow yours looks alot better than i was going to do. please draw me something up. what did you do with the seat brackets that hold the back seat up?
Sorry for almost hyjacking the thread with my truck story. Back on topic. If you look really close, on the left side of the back, there is a screw. I screwed right into that bracket across the back. Now, when putting in speakers, I can put one in the middle no problem, but will have to remove those brackets (I think) to put two subs into that area. I will probably run 2 brackets diagonally across the top corners, and maybe 2 more across the bottom corners if I think it needs it. Email me your mailing address, be sure to state what you are asking for in the body of the email, and I will draw those up onto construction paper and send them out to you. Just $50 per drawing, so that comes out to $100 per set Just kidding. Now the bottom where that chunk of trans-tunnel sticks up, I have no wood there. That is just a piece of carpet glued to the floor, then the wood layed on over it. So you may want to do something different with that. But at least you have the template for the seat/floor part and the back saving you the couple hours it took me to cut and recut it out of cardboard to get it to fit just right. scooper@shilohtreatmentcenter.com
wow thanks alot. just sent the email. i also found a great website that helped explain how big to build the box, and what to use it for. http://www.crutchfield.com/learn/learningcenter/car/subwoofers/box_building.html it's seemingly simple. so i hope it works out.
Hey scoop,is there any way you could list the demensions for those panels or draw em up in MS paint with deminsions?
I'm leaving the bottom seat and putting up a back piece like that for my ac unit . 6x9s for me I guess.
Sure thing. I can draw it up, scan it, and post it here. Good idea. If you want an actual template, I can do that too, if you aren't good with "blueprints".
Sorry for the hasty drawing. It is symetrical in real life. Not skewed like the pic shows. At the top and on the back of the back is a piece of 1X2 all along the edge with the 2" side screwed to the board. This is a spacer to fill in the gap between the back and the rear "dashboard" doohicky. On the bottom front about 3" back so you cannot see is a 2X4 on edge holding the seat up. Big picture. I can shrink it if you want. I can also make templates if anyone needs to help get the angles correct. It is a tight fit so you pretty much have to get it right on to make it work. Just email me if you want those made up.
