so what about your comet? you going to make something similar but with the bump for that? i think the big round lights are too much, maybe something smaller or square like sport lamps?

Chances of ME doing the Comet one are slim to none. They are just too complex. If the Mav grill turns out and people actualy like them, MAYBE I would consider spending some time on trying to fab something up. I did once look at it real close, side by side with the Mav one. It does look do-able, but I want to finish what I started chewing on AND concentrate on my car too. I spend so much time on here it's pathetic. It's also real hot in the garage lol.
As for the lights? I am open to opinions and yes, I did look at some rectangular ones. I just think the round ones look like they belong verses the squareish ones. The space within the grill that there is to work with is kinda limiting me with the size of lights. I was hoping for some SLIGHTLY smaller than the head lamps, but they may end up alot smaller which may mean none at all. I will have to spend the $ AFTER I get the face done to see which lights look right if any. ALL is still a work in progress. The other thing I have been tossing around in my mind is the fact that adding lights raises the cost to the consumer. This is why I have to make several grills. I wanted to make a grill that is affordable. But then I saw this bad ass Mustang (not the red one from previous post) and fell in love with the lights. Maybe it's just me and GrabberGT that thinks they would look good...?

Gene, I think the small lights in the grill would be nice, better than the huge GT lights. I don't have a pic, but something like the 'pony' lights on the new Mustangs. Are you thinking about putting a Maverick emblem in the grill?

The smallest I will even consider are these 3" ones I saw. The opening I have shows 5 1/4". I really would like at least 1" of material top and bottom. I can get one to fit and stick out away making the round circumfrance larger than the opening so, I gotta play with it to see. The angle also will come into play at the sides. Emblem? I am working on that also. I am in contact with someone who will be my supplier if this flourishes.
What do you think about "angle eyes" lights? I have them in my truck and they grabb attention. They also drain my battery when I forget to turn them off lol.

you could always make them all without lights and if someone wants lights they can cut\mod their own mount...

The thing is that it's steel. Not too easy cutting and adding things without messing with what was a finished look. You'll understand once done. I will most likely have a no lights version anyway. I want to make a light version/model. But that means using the lights I use in designing it. This is where you guys come in. Once I get there, I will show and ask which ones are the choice, but that's down the road. I was elected (who? me?) by a member like 3-4 years ago to make one and i'm just getting around to trying to make it happen. If my 110 welder here at the house hadn't messed up on me I would have done this already. My garage don't have 220 (yet) otherwise I would have loaded up the shop welder and brought it home on the weekends for things like this. That's my excuse and i'm sticking to it... my shop is also like 90-100 miles away.

I think it's 3/4". This is just a skeleton. The next time I post pics it should be a finished no lights version. As for chrome? That may not happen on my end. Once done in the raw state then I can go ask at a chromer. They can't give me any prices without seeing what i'm talking about. I once showed this guy a pic of the Comet grill, it was a good pic too. He said he has to see it in person, :bs:but whatever. Since then I have been in touch with another place that claims to be able to color chrome and gold plate etc... she claims best prices around and even knew the place I told her about with the pic. She told me her prices are about half of theirs, so, who knows. I have the connect for powder coating already, but I gotta get to the finish line for the chrome option.
At this point I have done quite a bit of talking, so now I can't wait! It's chalanging to me and I like helping when I can.

This is about the first thing I thought of when I saw the round lights, took me about 20 min to find it in the gallery again

Thanks for posting this. It's what I am needing to see. I do think the lights are kinda big and need to come together a little. Also, if these type of lights are used, the turn sigs need to be in the valance. Is that possible? What years have that anyway?

I don't need the extra lights. And I think I want chain links, not barbed wire. It would go with TL's steering wheel:biglaugh:
