I have run into a few Problems with my V-8 install. My car is a1973 came with I-6 motor an a auto c-4 factory. My donar V-8 and Transmission came out of a 1973 torino. First problem is I changed my power steering to a manuel system. My water pump pulley will not align to Alt or Crank Pulleys...What pulleys do I need? , and does anyone have them PM me. My next problem is Driveline I installed motor and C-4 trans, I used Drive Shaft from my I-6 / C-4 Lookes like it sits out 2inches on the yoke from where it use to ride on the seal?? I have included a few Pictures... whats up? thanks I need your input.....Have a great 4th of July!!!!
The pullies i used on my manual setup were: #D3D E 6312 A3A for the crank and #D20E 8509 AA for the water pump
I used the 6 cylinder water pump pulley on mine, bought one of the shim kits from ebay, Jegs and Summit have them also. I used the thick shim, put my pulley just right....
i agree... something's up. it should have dropped right in and the stock driveshaft should sit inside the trans another 2+ inches.
Yes I dont know whats up with the driveshaft ,the trans mounts bolt up nice to brace. Trans is a c-4 out of a 1973 Torino Wagon...
No wagon, it was my buddies car ,he is a Torino Nut He has a 73 Grand Torino and a 71 cobra Torino. Still waiting to see if anyone can explain my Drive shaft problem...has anyoe else run into this??
do you have the engine stands on the correct sides. they need to have there overhang towards the rear of the car not to the front.
would the transmission mount bolt up if they were backwards? i still think the tailshaft is shorter... ......
My I-6 driveshaft is not quite as long as my V-8 driveshaft, but I don't recall it being that much shorter. Measure the trannies like Frank is suggesting.
When I had my c-4 out of the I-6 I measured it from were it attaches to the bell housing back and I thought it was the same length? It just seems weird I dont hear, or see posts on c-4 tail shaft problems? I thought it would be a perfect drop in... I also checked Motor mounts they do face rear and yes trans mount drops in perfect.
i put the stock 6 cyl. (small dia.) driveshaft behind my 302 swap...then behind my AOD swap...then put it behind Earls t-5 swap... ...Frank...:Handshake
