i went to check on my 302(actually 312) and ask the guy what kind of cam he put in... he said he put in an RV cam in it to give me the increased low end tourque that i wanted..... whats the difference between the "RV" cam and a regular perfomance cam? is this good for my light car?

i think this is a shops "easy out" for saying they gave you a low dollar cam. i got this answer for my new truck motor and the grabbers first cam from two different shops. both times i was disappointed. going forward i will tell them what cam i want. hope yours is better...

i sure hope so. i told him to give me cam that wil give the motor increased low end torque when i first brought it to him. maybe it will do the trick? time will tell.

My 2 cents it they seen you coming a mile away.

Your best bet would have been to ask for opinions on a cam here, and then told the shop what one you wanted, or took that cam with you and told them to install it.

If that's what you asked for, then he made the correct choice in cam profile for your request. An "RV" cam is basically an improved cam that's between stock O.E grinds (with some exceptions, like Ford's HO, GT40 and F4TE roller cams) and wilder street/strip cams in profile. A Comp Cams 268H is an RV type cam. An RV style cam ranges in @.050 durations around 195*-215*. And usually with a wider LSA to limit the overlap bettween the intake and exhaust events

I never have figured out just what that cam was. Was it based on lift (I doubt it) or duration? Or something else ?

That's what I'm running too and my engine's no slouch. Not saying it would catch Pinky, Patches, Jimmy's car, etc. but it's far from being underpowered.
