I put my headlights, choke and blower motor on relays, and it unloaded the alternator quite a bit. I also did the G3 alternator conversion, and made a big diff. Good luck!
I have relays and Zoops on my Falcon. Its kinda of scary seeing the possums looking down from the trees at night. Gotta hit the dims when coming up on the big blue signs on the interstate...the reflection will blind ya. http://1bad6t.com/images/DCP_1059.jpg
just curious if the zoops you got are for h2 or h4 type bulbs. maybe they make them for both or they hold both. summit says they take h4 and zoops says they take h2
Don't buy those Chinese POS cheap junk crap.... I tried em and regretted it. You will too. Not street legal either....(no DOT # on the glass) After I upgraded the wiring with relays carrying current from my battery direct to the headlights, the voltage is 14.2 AT THE BULB WITH THE LIGHT ON. Get yourself some Sylvannia Silverstar 6024 ST High Performance 7" Halogen lights. They are 55/65 watts! They are as bright as the H4 bulbs. Make sure they are ST not just 6024.(the regular ones) The bluish glow of H4 bulbs is misleading. The Color Temp of sunlight is about 5400K (kelvin) and the higher the Kelvin the bluer the light. Also the higher the k the lower the luminosity, or brightness. The blue (6000k)is achieved by blocking the full spectrum of light, which makes distinguishing and seeing things at night more difficult. It makes everything look "black and white". Ever tried working on your car with an LED flashlight? It sucks.
I did the relay conversion to my F100 years ago and loved it. I also bought some of the Ebay clear headlights that have the new bulbs in them and man can I see at night! They are brighter than some of the new cars out there. One of the best and easiest upgrades on the 67-79 F100's. Next I would say was the front sway bar, disc brakes and interval wipers. Speaker of the wipers, I have another interval wiper set up I grabbed at the pull a part one day. Do they work on the Mavericks as well? I would think they would. I will look at my 72 when I get time and swap it over. Is that a [popular upgrade on the Mavericks and Comets? clint
Glad to help. I go to the pull a part and look for 76-79 F150's mostly. Usually the Rangers or XLT's have them but you never know. I reach in the window and try to turn the wiper switch to the left. If it clicks no good but if it turns smoothly then it has the interval wipers on it. If the stuff is still there I grab the wiper switch and a black or gray box stuck up underneath the dash that is about 2"x"2.5"x 2""S I cut the ground wire from the box leaving a long tail and grab the harness going to the switch from the box. I usually have to cut a bit off the shaft of the switch to make it work in the truck. Other than that is is mostly a plug and play deal. I probably left something out as it has been a long time since I installed one. There might be something different about the harness plugs being different and having to rotate the wires but that might be on something else all together. My CRS is kicking in in relashionship with the beer right now. lol I think I it just plug in the harnesses, hook up the ground and make the shaft the right length to fit you application. Great upgrade and once you get it in you just can't wait for a drizzle so you can keep using them. lol I bet so many things are the same between a 67-79 F100 that people don't think about. Not many real parts but the accessories like door parts, switches and electrical parts, Headlight parts, etc. I need to park my 71 F100 next to the 72 Maverick and start looking them over. clint
I was gonna look at the original packaging, but can't seem to locate it... I'm prety sure they take H4 bulbs (couldn't find anything on Zoop's site about the bulb)... These are glass enclosures, not plastic (I know, I busted one putting it in) and are really well made. Are you that concerned about some lettering on the glass? :16suspect I can't recall anyone ever checking this during any of my prior inspections, so what's the deal? Russ
