hey guys, i'm planning on getting a new headliner..most likely from melvinsclassicfordparts.com (80$ shipped) but was curious what you guys are using for heat/sound deadner? dynomat? lizard skin? or some kind of foam kit?
I took some of that silver insulation you sue for windshields and cut it to fit between the rafters and used some 3m red glue and glued it to the cieling and then put in my headliner... Chaz.
go to lowes, go down the heating duct aisle, look for the heating duct insulation.. its reflective on one side, foam middle, and self stick adhesive on the backing... just like dynomat but for about $6 bucks for 15ft instead of $45-75 depending on where you go. You can double it up as well, and works quite well...get you some of the tape as well to seal the joints. Good luck.
I went to a fabrick store. they have 1/4" headliner foam for later model cars. the stuff is cheap. I used spray on adhesive and just stuck the stuff up. it cuts with scissors. if you buy their end pieces (since you'll be cutting it to fit anyway) you can probably get a deal. they have about 8 or 10 different colors at Hancock Fabricks. I think it's like $12 a yard (36" X 54") for the good stuff.
