I have had one on my 71 F100 for about 8-9 years now. It did get loose once but I glued it back down and all is well still. No warps, cracks or fading so far. $79 versus a new dash pad at close to $500, I'll take the cap any day. clint
Most of us put them on without gluing. They pretty much snap in place and aren't going anywhere. Very easy to remove if needed that way. I've used them on several of my cars over the years and have never glued one yet.
So...is it falling up??? I don't understand how it could fall off. If you're having problems with yours you must have some kind of major defect in it. Get rid of it and get you another one.
I'm driving along and I roll over a pebel on the road and the cap is now between the steering wheel and the dash. I was tempted to allow it to keep going out the window.
Gene, I thought I always had the strange problems . Mine has never came loose, and it looks factory. Are you sure that you have a Mav/Comet cover? The way mine snaps on, I see no way it could come loose by it's self...
You should! If you get a good one you will have to pull it off. It's not going to come off driving like that, even with air flowing through the car. I guess you got the only bad one Ive ever heard of. Leave it to you.
Mine snaps on fine and snug, w/o gluing. I'm glad I bought it. Only problem is there is a very slight crack between the cap return and the tray if you look through the window. I'm sure if I glued it down it would disappear - or even if I ripped off some of the old brittle dash pad - but it ain't really broke, so I don't need to mess up trying to glue it on. Bad things could happen - you know?
mine does too....and I am willing to wager that my car shimmies, shakes and rattles while sitting in park more than most do going down the interstate in a construction zone
