My maverick has the chrome molding on the body. undernieth it are the metal clips and when you remove the metal clips there is about a quarter inch hole in the body how would i fill in thise holes?
Thank you for asking i was wandering the same thing that would be alot of welding and it seems like bondo would be bad..
Welding the holes shut is the only right way to do it. Using body filler will work but it is temporary and will eventually pop out and ruin whatever paint job you put on it.
Not hard with the right equipment. But if you didn't know how it's done, you won't have the equipment, so slow down, do some reading. Use the "Search" feature, and you'll find a lot of the answers your looking for. Don't get burnt out too fast.
Welding on the body or welding up holes should work. When I did my F100 I had a lot of holes to weld up around the top of the bed where I had one of those vinyl covers over the top. All I had was a $400 Lincoln welder from Lowes. It was a Flux core welder. It worked very well at welding up the holes though if I had the kit to make it a gas type welder I am sure it would have worked better. The metal on the bed of the 71 F100 might be a bit thicker than the fenders or floors of a Maverick though. I have used it on other projects and have had to use a backer metal like pieces of metal or washers to keep from burning through. Clint
Yes I am my maverick has that stupid ugly chrome trim and when i took it off there these small metal clips, when i took them out it left a 1/4 inch hole.
I'm still confused as to what you are referring to, any chance you can post a pic? Are you saying the head of the welder won't reach it?
what nobody said anything about the head of a welder and upgrade the 8" install gauges install trunk panels/new trunk seal Weatherstripping
