Modular Maverick Build page

ok guys finally going to start a real build page. As many of you know the project has been off and on for the last several years. Over the past couple months it's been reving up. I've been getting parts together for about a month now, and purchased a complete wrecked but running 96 Cobra for parts as well. I basically have almost everything to get it running minus a radiator and hoses.

Changes:
It will now have the Cobra's 8.8 w/4.10 gears disc brakes, and Cobra front brakes with 13" rotors. Wiring is going to be all Cobra none of the factory Maverick stuff will remain. Reason for that is I will be using the Cobra cluster, pedal setup, steering column, sound system, fuel system, and going to try a fit the entire a/c system in the Maverick as well that way as far as the wiring goes it will all be plug and play.

Earlier this week I purchased the front and rear seats. I was not crazy about the Cobra tan leather seats and really wanted something non-power. After looking aftermarket I starting looking OEM and what I ended up with was Hyundia Tiburon 03+ seats. These are black leather, manual adjustments, fit great, and are very comfortable. I got the whole seat front and rear for $200. Im very happy with them and now you have another option for your Mavericks.

What have you been drinking? Your not seeing things thats when I was entertaining the idea of right hand drive.

 

Nice! What rear suspension did you end up with?

 

It's a custom tri 4 link setup.

 

If you know of anyone else looking for one let me know. I have the whole setup out of this Cobra I'll let go for a good deal. I even have a video of it running before I took it out.

Just wondering how the back seat from that Hyundia Tiburon are going to fit. Will it take much modification to get them into the back of the Mav?
Also, how are you getting those Cobra front brakes with 13" rotors to fit on the Mav spindles? Are you using some kind of adapters? Thanks. John B

 

I wish those are few and far between. I'm using a T-45 5 speed. A 6speed upgrade will be down the road.

 

Since mine is mini tubbed, I'm going to have to take about 2+ inches out of the center of the bottom portion of the rear seat and about an inch from both sides of the back. These would probably fit in a stock Mav?

As for the brakes, I'm using wilwood pro spindles for the Mustang II suspension. They have a late model style hub then you slide your rotor on. I have to make a caliper mounting bracket but wilwood makes that easy with multiple mounting points on these spindles. The bracket will be made from 3/8 inch steel plate.

 

Check before cutting! We mini-tubbed my '72 (2" per side) and the bottom seat fit perfectly with no narrowing. Just hoping to save you some grief...
